Cumbrian Cracker, 6 October 2024

Entries are SOLD OUT for 2021

The Cumbrian Cracker is one of the original Lakeland cycle sportives, with Grasmere Village hosting the start, finish and Race HQ. For the 2024 edition we retain the original 60 mile route and to celebrate the event’s 15th Anniversary, we have added a new 100 mile option.

Both routes climb up ‘Red Bank’ within the first mile! The 60 mile riders will continue round the back of Coniston Water to reach the food stop at Cartmel Scout Hut, next to the famous Racecourse. The return leg then weaves it’s way through some fantastic country lanes, via Grizedale Forest, Hawkshead and Ambleside. The route is undulating but does not climb any of the major passes.

The 100 mile riders take a right after they have descended ‘Red Bank’, to take in some of the finest views of the Lake District and some of it’s most challenging climbs. The route includes Whinlatter Pass, Hardknott & Wrynose Pass, all within the first 20 miles of the course! The 100 mile riders continue onward, following the coastal road, before looping round to Broughton in Furness then finally reaching Coniston Water where they rejoin the 60 mile route, heading back to Grasmere via Cartmel.

This is a classic sportive which showcases the stunning colours of the Lake District in Autumn,  creating an EPIC day out on the bike. Make sure you join us!
