The Ullswater Epic Lakes Swim is event 1 of the Epic Lakes Open Water Swim Series. It takes place from Jenkins Field, in Glenridding, Patterdale and it is a celebration of all things British. You can choose either the 500m, the 1 mile or the ‘Iron’ 3.8k distances, depending upon your age and ability. On the day, we will be hosting our annual village fete, which will include cake stalls, a coconut shy a tombola and there will also be a host of other sporting activities such as egg and spoon race and welly wanging. Sunday 16th June 2019
What do I need to enter?
There will be the option when entering the mile or the 3.8km races to swim without a wetsuit (Skin Swimmer). You must have previous event experience of swimming without a wetsuit which must be provided at the point of entry. Tow Floats will be compulsory for all Skin Swimmers. For all other competitors wetsuits are compulsory. Shortie type wetsuits are allowed if you are an experienced swimmer, but we recommend full length arms and legs due to the cold temperatures. If you are susceptible to the cold, we would also recommend neoprene hats, socks and gloves. The minimum age for competitors is 11/14/17 for 500m/1mile/3.8km on the day of the event.
